I want to get caps or implants on my canine teeth. Funny thing is I am in college for dentistry. Where do i go/how do I go about getting my teeth done? Is it done by dentists or is it other people who specialize in that sort of thing??
*Say you went to a dentist and she had fang caps in her mouth, would you consider changing your dentist? Why or why not?
*If you saw an attractive (and very intelligent)girl and liked her, would her having fangs change your opinion?
VAMPIRE fang implants: a NO or a GO?
Lol, I have naturally sharp canine teeth. Trust me, it's not as great as you'd imagine. Although I do save $2.99 on my Halloween costume every year....
Oh, I'm sorry lol. I didn't see the other half of your question xD
I would not mind if my dentist had fangs but since most or at least half of your patients will be kids....I think that'd freak them out a little considering a number of them are already scared of even going to the dentists....
No, they would not change my opinion. Unless they became somewhat of a nuisance every time I tried to kiss her lol....
Reply:i don't think it makes a difference, i had a teacher in college who had them
Reply:Seeing as I have custom-fitted removable fangs, I say GO for it!
My dentist made them for me. If you're studying dentistry, can't you do it yourself? Or find another student who could help you?
I like fangs, but folks like us are most definitely considered freaks by the majority.
Reply:dont know the answer to the first stuff but I would be freaked out if I were to see that for the first time. lol but after awhile I might think it was cool and get some of my own and start biting that **** out of my male friends. YESSSSSSS!!!! AHAHAHAHAAAAAAA
Reply:Hi...
You wont want them....
When you grow up!!!
.
Reply:They're fabulous.... as long as they're removeable.
I see them like i see my tattoo's, appropriate for some situations, not for others.
They're comfy, and look great. I have a custom set. Worth all the money, expect to pay about £80 a pair.
Saw a cute girl with them in, they'd just make her cuter. Love them..... but not on my dentist, dentists are creepy enough !!
Reply:I don't think it's a good idea:
1) You may change your mind when you're older.
2) If you're treating kids as a dentist, they may totally freak out.
3) Personally, I'd be wary of a dentist with fang implants. My friends are reading over my shoulder, and they agree totally. One even said "I'd run away" lol.
4) If I met a guy (since I'm a straight girl here) I liked with vampire fang implants, I wouldn't mind too much, but I'd think they weren't a very serious individual. As in, ok to date, but not long term.
Reply:Do you want people to take you seriously???
Reply:people with tatoos don't look scary or like vampires lol! that's the answer to that one lol! if it were me i would never have fangs, wanting to look like a vampire just makes you look like something from buffy!
Reply:I personally wouldn't care if someone had them anymore than I'd care about a piercing or tattoo - it's just a decoration.
I'd definitely go with the removable option though because some people won't take you seriously and you'll want to be able to pick and choose the situations you wear them. Tattoos and piercings are becoming increasingly common and even those can run you the risk of being looked askance at.

What the major steps in dental implants?
I may have to have dental implants... 2 of my teeth need excraction. I wanted to know, Im I going to go with out couple teeth for a long time? I would be so embarrased to go to work with no front teeth. Does the dentist put temporary teeth till I get the permanent ones?
What the major steps in dental implants?
I have implants and my Doctor is a Prosthodontist not a Periodontist. A prostodontist is a dentist whose practice if for replacement of teeth and many often specialize in placing implants. The one I chose is in Fort Washington, PA and does "teeth in a day" Where your teeth are pulled, implants placed and teeth attached in a one day surgery. This office does implants primarily and have a 98 to 100% success rate. I was thrilled with them. However the teeth they attach are actually temporary teeth that you cannot chew anything with firmer than something soft like pasta or baked fish for about 5 months when you get your permanent crowns. But that time goes by so fast. For people who have only 2 teeth replaced just avoid chewing on that side for me I have a total implant restoration where I had to be very careful.
There are different ways of approaching implants and it depends on the dental professional you choose. You will find that not all dental professionals do the immediate loading. Some pull the teeth and make you wear a partial or denture until you gums are healed and other's place implants right away but put cover the implants with the gum tissue and you wear a partial or denture until they open the gums and attach the abutment and then again for a short time you wear your denture or partial and about 6 months later you get your actual teeth.
All in all it takes a while but I like the kind I got because no one but me knew they were temporary and they were so very beautiful.
Reply:The dentist may supply temporary teeth, but why worry. IT will only be for a few days, while the implants are made.
Reply:Getting implants is a long procedure. It will take some healing time after the implant is placed into the bone, a healing cap will be placed on the site. (I do believe that a temp can be made...not sure if they do that right away. ) Then in a few months you will return to the Dr. and he will take off the healing cap, take impressions for your implant crown and will replace the healing cap with a temp.
I am a dental assistant for a general dentist. I have not preformed the actual surgery (a periodontist does that), but I have been involved with the impression stage of the procedure. This is not an over night thing, so please be patient, but the results will amaze you!
Reply:Your dentist will provide the best option to cover the extraction site, to save you from any (if at all?) embarassment. The patient has to be a good candidate for teeth-in-a-day. Otherwise, normal course of implant placement surgery, sutures removal after 7-14 days, placing abutment, 3-6 months of healing process (osseointegration), and finally crowns.
Reply:Dental Implants and Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Why are my teeth so bad?!?
Ok, I have ALWAYS taken extremely good care of my teeth. I went to the dentist today and he put 4 more fillings in my teeth. already have one in almost every tooth now. My wisdom teeth are rotted because my gums kept swelling over them so i couldn't reach them with a toothbrush and have to be pulled next week ALSO, I had a root canal done about 2 yrs ago, that he said needs to be pulled out completely and replaced with an implant. Are bad teeth hereditary? My dad has bad teeth, as does my grandmother. My mom and brother haven't ever had a cavity. How much does it cost to get your wisdom teeth pulled. Also how much is an implant going to cost. I have good dental insurance, but still as a newlywed couple my hubby and I don't have very much money, all of it goes towards monthly bills and insurance. So I'm just curious how much I can expect to pay for all this. I probably will have to wait a while to get the implant, but I need to get the wisdom teeth and the 1 bad tooth pulled asap.
Why are my teeth so bad?!?
Man, thats rough. It can be genetic. I had great teeth all my life untill I turned 21 and didn't have dental insurance so it wasn't untill 2 years later that I went for another cleaning and check up. In those two years I grew 17 cavities. The dentist said many would go away with regular flossing but there were 4 that needed immediate attention (fillings). It's 6 years later now and I don't have dental insurance at the moment and I have to have more work done. I think the key is those regular 6 month checkups that I had untill I was 21.
The price varies. Unfortunately its hard to ''shop around'' for dental work, just getting a check up costs money and who wants to run around getting them done anyway. For that serious of dental work you're looking at several thousands of dollars.
Good luck.

Reply:The cause in hereditary cannot be denied. But one should also be honest to make a self check, like keeping away from soda, cola, etc for some months to see the difference. You would be lucky if your insurance covers dental implants. The cost of dental treatment is increasingly becoming unbearable for many, forcing them to look for options of Dental Work Overseas during annual leave. The internet search for Best Deal Affordable Dental Treatment some times presents attractively cheaper dental care.

UR tooth Problem can have some heriditary stuff... It's a fact that dental health depends on some factors like our health status, food habits, cleanliness, etc... But some persons cant get rid off such problems even if they try hard.. tht can be a disease or heriditary stuff..
If UR Dentist advised 4 an Implantation, tht's a good choice... If U R going 2 remove all the teeth, it's gonna be a difficult task.. Because generally Implantation is a long process.. I'll explain in brief..
Tooth Implantation is a permenant tachnique. It's done by drilling on the gums and in to the bone and fixing an Implant(a 2-3 cm long metal-alloy piece) in to the bone. the other end of the bone will be exposedto outside, on which tooth-crown(Porcelain) is fixed... But it's not a fast process as it seems... after Implantaion surgery it need 2 be heal.. so it takes 6-8 months. To replace all teeth no need to place implant for all the teeth.. So we do 1 implant for 2-3 teeth. and bridge all the crowns together... There R chances ofrejection, inflamation, infection etc.So Patient need 2 take prescribed meicine %26amp; rest.
Advantage of Implantation teeth are... It's 3 times stronger than normal teeth, Looks like normal teeth(we cant differenciate origianl from porcelain) ,No further pain as for usual artificial set teeth.
But the process is a lil bit expenssive. Here in India it costs around 4000 Rs for 1 Implant. For entire Teeth replacement, It costs around 20000-25000 Rs.(1 US$ = 43 Rs) I think it's more expenssive in US than US converted indian money.
Live Healthy,let live..

Reply:Yes, bad teeth are inherited and in your case maybe being stupid is inherited, I have not met your family. At any rate you need to ask the dentist, they spend a considerable time in school for things like this. But if you ask me you could pay $100.000, see why you need to ask the dentist.
Reply:Yes, gum and teeth problems are somewhat hereditary. I had gingivitis for a few months but now I'm trying to take better care of my mouth. The people on my dad's side of the family are prone to dental problems, so that must have been why I've been having gingivitis. It just means that you must take better care of your mouth than some people.

What would you do if you couldn't chew your food due to tooth loss if both dentures and implants failed?
In the worst case scenario of both dentures and implants failing and being unable to chew due to tooth loss, what kind of foods could you eat to get enough calories to maintain your weight? Can pretty much any food be grinded down in a blender? Are blenders strong enough to grind down meats, fruits and veggies?
What would you do if you couldn't chew your food due to tooth loss if both dentures and implants failed?
yep. baby food could be the answer. But, my granddad had no teeth and he ate everything. Meat, he just cut it small like for a child, and chewed just like he had teeth. Said it worked for him. He had false teeth, but, didn't like them.
Reply:basically all the nutrients you need can be put in a blender, i put ice in so I'm sure meat could added with liquid, the possibilities are endless.
Reply:I would grind it and drink it through a straw. Most blenders will puree food, once it is cooked. Raw food/veggies won't work well in blenders.
Reply:you could change your diet to a liquid or a puree diet. i would reccomend seeing a nutritionist.
Reply:You can blend anything to a puree - I made all baby food that way when my kids were small. Custards, puddings, soups, stews, are all very nutritious and easy to eat.
However, a person who has no teeth or dentures usually adapts by cutting food into smaller pieces, cooking it until it is softer and more tender, eating more of the softer foods generally, etc. There are many options and it isn't difficult to get enough nutrition without eating the tougher foods.
Reply:You mean you don't have any teeth because of the failure of dentures and implants. Well, about all you can do is as people say get use to trying it with your gums.. Your gums will get hard and it want hurt as bad. I'm sure that if drink a lot that Sure is suppose to be good for you and I 'm sure blending the same food you would normally eat would have the same amount of calories probably need to take good vitamins along with your food.
Can't they go in and build your gums up where you can get fitted for implants or dentures. You know they have screw in teeth, they fix your gum with a metal device and then you can have beautiful teeth and if one breaks just screw it out and screw in another. Best of luck With Your Problem. the dentist will probably find something to help your gums. Have a happy New Year
Reply:Dentures do not fail, they don't fit. Which can be modified. Implants have a high percentage of not failing and if they do you can easily fix. If neither work...you may want to see a doctor if everything keeps failing.
Reply:suck on baby food jars?
Reply:Lots of smoothies! And if babies can get all their food from blended food, why can't adults? I would imagine protein shakes would have to substitute for meats. But, fruits and vegies could go in the blender.

You need to visit a dentist who will evaluate the state of your mouth in particular , trhough radiology, the amount of bone that you have. In fact, many years having a prothesis can determine a resorption of the bone. And in case there is not enough you will not be able to put implants.Prices are variable. I would advice to choose a good dentist close to your town.We are talking about surgical operation so it is better to know the person who will do that and in case of complicancies ,to be able to get there soon. Just be sure the doctor has followed a couse on implants

Reply:well, unfortunately, Tiajuana, is excellent for doing implants. I know a man who paid a total of eight grand, and got the most beautiful complete dental makeover you could ever want, including dental implants...a cost that would have exceeded forty thousand here...but it isn't very safe down there, unless you have someone to go with you who understands the language, and is familiar with the place...I understand they are safe..but timely and costly otherwise..but i would do it if i needed it and could afford it.

Why dont people have their teeth replaced with fake ones?
Why don't people get all there teeth pulled and have implants, even if they have no problems, surely this would reduce need for fillings and root canals, teeth wouldn't hurt and it would be a one off payment? Teeth are annoying! surely it would be alot less hassle??!!!!
Why dont people have their teeth replaced with fake ones?
First, because implants are really expensive.
Second, because NOTHING is as strong as a real natural tooth!
Once you have work done in your mouth, you will have to keep going back to your dentist for maintance.
My advice is to just brush and floss daily!
Reply:They do. It cost my uncle $20,000 to get all his teeth done.
Not a lot of people can afford to stuff that kind of dough in their mouths. LOL!
Reply:Well, some people do, but its very expensive and painful. Getting implants is at least a 3 week procedure, you can't get them in one visit.
But if we do that why not just have all parts be like velcro parts?

How can I fix the gap in my front teeth?
I have a "medium" size gap between my front teeth. I don't want veneers or the like. One of my front teeth is an implant. Can this be fixed with braces? Traditional or Invisilign?
How can I fix the gap in my front teeth?
Been in dentistry for years - so I know that you can no have braces or even invislign if you have an implant. Both those procedures require the tooth move and an implant will not more. You would have had to have the other teeth moved before the implant. At this point, your only choice is veneers. But, like the other said - there is nothing wrong with a space between your teeth! But, if you aren't happy, then spend the money and fix with veneers - could be pretty costly! Good luck!!

Good luck!!
