Reply:WELL FIRST THEY PULL OUT THE REMAINING TEETH. THEN THEY DRILL HOLES INTO YOUR SKULL! AND SHOVE METAL POSTS IN THE HOLES. THEN THEY SCREW TEETH ONTO THE POST !! THAT HURTS !! HOPEFULLY YOU WILL BE UNCONSCIOUS !
Reply:i place implants every week and i NEVER do them on girls under 18 and boys under 21. your face is not finished growing yet and you need to ask the dentist about this before you get them.

Dental Implants care recommendations?

I am going to have my two central superior teeth replace by implants. Could you tell me what general care directions should I take immediatelly after the procedure and until I get the definetively crowns? Thank you for your advices.

Dental Implants care recommendations?
Your dentist should give you antibiotics after the extraction. They sometimes put a temporary crown in, depends on the dentist. Just brush/floss carefully as usual and you should be fine. If you notice food getting caught or redness, tenderness, bleeding call the dentist and let them know. You should have a short wait (abt 2 weeks) for your permanent crowns, again, depending on the lab that makes them, so you shouldn't have to worry for very long.
Reply:Your dentist will give you explicit instructions for care based upon your personal requirements. Do not take anyone else's advice in this matter. You are paying a great deal for these implants, while the advice you get here is worth about what you pay for it.
Reply:Hi Pili.

Your dentist will give you antibiotics to help with the healing process. The first few days after the procedure you might have swollen gums at the site of the implantation - that is normal don't be concerned about it. Your dentist will tell you exactly what you "should" and "should not" do.

Does anyone know which is better when you have a big space after braces on your teeth an implant or a bridge?

I've had braces since april of 2006 and im finally getting them off i don't know exactly when either april or may but my orthodontist has advised me to think about which procedure i would like done and ive heard the pros and cons but really don't see a significant difference between thd two procedures can anyone help me please??!!!

Does anyone know which is better when you have a big space after braces on your teeth an implant or a bridge?
Implants are far better. With bridges, they have to grind down the teeth on each side of the space and cover them with crowns to attach the bridge to. I'd recomend keeping the other teeth whole and getting implants. Then if that fails in the future you will always have the option of getting a bridge.
Reply:As a dentist, I would say go for the implant as I did to my father, because todays implants usually have a success rate of over %98, and also because implant simply feels like your own tooth. I would not recommend a bridge because you have to take away the healthy tooth tissue of 2 or more teeth in order to place a pontic (the tooth you are replacing)which makes them more prone to decays, and the new tooth doesn't feel like a tooth also crown and bridges are expected to be good usually only for 5-6 years where in case of an implant if you follow oral healthcare instructions given by your dentist, it can last a lifetime. Two more things about these two are that implants can tolerate more pressure caused by chewing than a bridge does and because in a bridge there is no such thing as a fixation which is present in an implant no force would be applied to your bone, hence that regions bone will gradually resorb over time.
Reply:Bridges require the removal of tooth material on the adjacent teeth. This is OK if the adjacent teeth have already been heavily filled, but not such a good idea if they are pristine.

Implants are more suitable for mouths with no pre-existing fillings. They are, however, much more expensive, and usually require a specialist (preferably a periodontist, or a prosthodontist). Also, you must have sufficient bone into which to place the implant, and in such a way that it has a natural "emergent" appearance from the gum.

Before you are able to make a decision, ask for a referral to an implant specialist for an opinion and a quote.

Do you know where to find dentists that work on surg. place implant on teeth?

to fix teeth because he went to some dentists but they charged him 18,000!! just to fix 7 teeth!

Do you know where to find dentists that work on surg. place implant on teeth?
Surgical implants are very expensive. I looked into getting one because my tooth went bad and they wanted to do a root canal and put a crown on it. I really didn't like that idea because having a root canal leaves something dead in your body which doesn't seem right to me. I have read some things that suggests that root canals cause major health problems too. So I contacted a dentist who did them and he suggested I try the root canal and if it failed and i had the tooth extracted to have an implant. Implants aren't usually covered by dental insurance companies and cost 1-2 grand each. Very pricey, but it's a very long process. Here is a site I found on google that lets you look up dentists who do implants. Good luck!

I like to have major work es to my teeth including implant but the cost is horrendous any help or experience ?

How about looking into CareCredit or see if the dental office does payment arrangements?

You shouldn't let money get in the way.... and some offices understand that and will work with you.

Best of luck~

It would be cheapest to get the work done in poland including flights over.Mad I know but that is what my brother done and saved thousands.Look into it and see what you think.
Reply:If you live near the Mexican border, there are good dentists just across the border that give good care at minimal costs. You may have to walk from one dentist to another and get references, but the cost will be substantially less than in the States.

Dental Implants?

I have two teeth in the roof of my mouth. I had surgery to pull them down four years ago, with the intent of moving them into their rightful place (not the teeth directly next to my front teeth, but the next ones over). Well, it's been four years and it hasn't worked, and I am really sick of having two teeth in the roof of my mouth and two giant gaps where teeth should be. Plus, the roof of my mouth really, really hurts- I can't really eat hot/cold foods and it affects my ability to talk.

So my ortho recommended implants. My dentists disagrees- thinks we should do everything possible to save the teeth. I want implants. I have had braces for 8 years, and enough is enough!

So all I know is that they are screws that go into the bone. Does the procedure hurt? I heard they are extremely expensive and I don't know if my family can afford that- is there any way to do it for less money? Do they look real? Are there generally problems after? Any info would be great!

Dental Implants?
If the ortho is giving up, then your dentist is being optimistic. Go and investigate implants.

My daughter is congenitally missing 4 teeth - 2 lateral incisors (just in front of the canines), and 2 lower 2nd premolars. Also had other skeletal problems. She has just finished 6 years of ortho at age 21, and had 2 implants placed for missing laterals. She's so happy.

I would suggest you ask for a referral to either a periodontist (gum specialist) or prosthodontist (crown specialist). There are a number of good systems out on the market - Nobel, Straumann (my favourite), 3i ... Often the periodontist is used to 2 or 3 different systems, and will suggest what is best for you. General dentists can place the crowns if you like and they are used to it.

Be wary of general dentists who think they can place implants - there are a few "cowboys" out there, and I know of a number of legal cases pending here in Australia. Safer with a specialist.
Reply:KRISTEN,

I FEEL YOUR FRUSTRATION WITH THIS WHOLE PROCESS.

MY ADVISE IS THAT YOU FIND A REPUTABLE PROSTHODONTIST WHO SPECIALIZES IN RESTORING SMILES WITH IMPLANTS. YOU CAN GET A CONSULTATION TO SEE IF THIS IS BEST FOR YOU.

THIS NEVER SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THIS LONG. USUALLY IT TAKES SEVERAL MONTHS TO GUIDE THE "MISSING" TEETH TO BE GUIDED TO PROPER POSITION, AND THE WAITING THROUGH THE PROCESS IS THE HARDEST THING TO DO. TRUST THE ORTHO'S JUDGMENT ON THIS ONE.
Reply:Implants suggested looks the right solution. NobelGuide is one of the finest offering from Nobel Biocare. It may cost around $1600 per tooth including ceramic crown, cheap implant dentistry in India.

Where can I get quality dental implants for a reasonable price? $3000 each sounds to high.?

The research I have done seems to point to a $3000 each price and this sounds like they have agreed on this as the going price, I feel this is high for someone who needs several implants, seven teeth. The upper and lower teeth. Can anyone help?

Where can I get quality dental implants for a reasonable price? $3000 each sounds to high.?
Dental schools usually offer discounted price on implants. For example, NYU dental school offers $500 on each implant (crown is included too) and they are the pioneers in the field of implant. However, there are certain qualifications to meet in order to get that price. So check with the dental school around and ask for their price and qualifications.
Reply:Check with a dental school. Is $3000 including the teeth or just the implant? If it includes the teeth it isn't a bad price.
Reply:I don't know where to get lower cost implants but my thought is it's not something you want to scrimp on. Bridges are a more cost effective solution but they don't last as long. I've had 1 implant which was around $5K and I'm in the process of my 2nd which will be around $4K due to various complications.
Reply:Our office charges only $1650.00 an implant, so yes you can get them cheaper.

But if this is the cost including the final crown, which we charge $1250.00 for, then no that is a reasonable price.
Reply:The implant would be from $1,500 to $2,000, but that's just for the implant. You need to have the implant restored with something or it's useless. ONE implant is typically restored with a crown, but that is a two-part deal. First you get what is called the abutment and sticks out above your gums. That can cost from $500 to $1,000 depending on whether you can use a pre-fab abutment or if it has to be custom made and what the fees are in your area. Once you have the abutment, you need a crown and that fee should be pretty much the same as a crown on a regular tooth. That would be from about $750 to $1,000 or maybe more in some areas. This means the total would range from about $2,750 to $4,000 depending on several factors. I'd say the average single tooth implant restored with a crown in New Jersey might be about $3,000.
Reply:I know how high going to the dentist is high. You can save up to 80% on dental.

Sliding scale or reduced cost dental implants?

I have spent a lifetime paying big bucks to preserve horrible teeth and now I believe my teeth are not going to last much longer. Everytime I go in for work, (last three problems) I am told that the problem cannot be fixed and the tooth comes out.

I would love to have them all removed on my own terms instead of crisis by crisis, but I am only 37 and the prospect of dentures at my age is horribly depressing. I LOVE the idea of dental implants. False teeth that are installed.

I live in East Texas. My insurance plan, I'm sure doesn't cover this, as it is regarded as cosmetic. I have heard that a person who knows how to do this...can do so with a minimum of expense to him/herself. The supplies are dirt cheap but the knowhow is expensive. I CAN'T afford the full cost of this to be done. And I think it would be rather selfish of a dentist not to donate some expertise now and again.

Does anyone know any dental schools or really sweet people that know how to do this in my area?

Sliding scale or reduced cost dental implants?
If you can do some research or calling around to different dental offices or go on the American Dental Associaton, you may find a Dentist that has just completed his training in implant surgery, and has his Certification in Dental implants, and he may want to use you as his first case, and charge you mabye a minimum fee,Just call a office, they maby not do it, but may know a dentist that is in implant training and pass the word on with your name and number, asle you may be able to post it on a dental website,(or the American Dental Associaton )in your state, I believe they are like 1000 per tooth, they can do 2 implants and ancor your denture into your gums,(back tooth area on both sides)
Reply:You can typically get good rates at a teaching dental school without compromise of care. Though the setback can be time, you have the opportunity to be under the care of specialists and budding specialists making your care worthwhile and affordable. Report It

Reply:Implants are too expensive. Get used to dentures.

Teeth Quest?

Reader, i had a terrible accident in my front tooth. The tooth has been awhile now and is already a little fractured and turned gray. Over this summer, i plan to see the dentist to check up what he can do. Dentist visits are expensive. So it took me awhile to save money to fix my teeth all at once with braces and all that necessary.. Also, next to the death tooth is a tooth that needs filling. I have to admit i fear the dentist, cos i live in this poor country in which people more rough in business. Anyways, i read much about tooth canal, implant, crowning, and veneer. But i have no clue what they refer to. I would greatly appreciate your explanation and their process. Whats the pain i got to endure? Please be descriptive. Thank you very much.

Teeth Quest?
I've had a root canal, that's were they "kill" the nerve to the tooth, shave it down to a nub and place a veneer over it. An implant is for when the tooth is extracted and they place a fake tooth in it's place, place it into the gums. A crown is for when a filling will not be do, they shave the tooth and place like a "shell" of a tooth over the existing tooth. A veneer can be used after a root canal or placed over teeth for looks. For either, they shave down the tooth and place it over your existing teeh, like a "cap". There is Lumineers, where they barely shave ur teeth and place the teeth over ur teeth, also for looks. These are all based on my own experiences and I've had all 5. But see a dentist, they can give u the best possible treatment for ur mouth. Good luck!
Reply:i don't understand

Reply:hate to say it, but why don't you google all those terms, and check out the images as well, to find out more info.

Reply:hmmm the only thing i know about any of that is that veneers are extreamly expensive. but for just one, it might be cheaper. usually people get a whole row upper and lower of them. good luck!
Reply:Maybe go to see the dentist for a pre-visit and have him/her explain it. Then, if you feel comfortable- go get that death tooth fixed girl;)
Reply:God I hate tooth Problems and dentists, cause I have had lots. but at least The one I have now, gives good drugs while working on me.

Root Canal, is when the dentist removes the nerve from the tooth, and when it is gone the tooth is dead and can't hurt you in the future, he drills a hole in the tooth and extracts the nerve with a screw like needle, ...with freezing it doesn't hurt much. (i hate the tooth drilling part) When he has the nerve out, he packs the canal with painkiller and antibiotics and puts on a filling to seal the hole.

An implant is an expensive way to replace an unsound tooth or to anchor a set of bridges. The unsound tooth is removed, a hole is drilled into the jawbone, a metal post is crewed into the hole, and a temporary tooth (bridge) is put on til the post has joined chemically with the bone, (a couple of months) then the temporary is taken off and a ceramic tooth attaches to the post (they make the tooth the same shade as your other teeth.) Now you have a permanent new tooth.

Crowns are when you have lost most or all of the top surface of a tooth, the dentist prepares the surface (gets rid of bad material) and makes a mold of the tooth,

And a Crown, Like a bottle cap, especially made to fit your tooth is made at a lab, You go in another time, they cement it to your tooth and adjust for proper biting and your finished.

Veneers are a cosmetic way of resurfacing the seen part of the tooth. Look in the mirror, smile, what you see is what gets the veneer. It is like getting fake fingernails glued on, but more permanent.

Pain for any work usually is controlled with freezing, But for implants they will usually dope you up with special drugs.

Fear may be a problem if you are like me.The drugs sure help me.

How long do you have to wait before you can get implants after a tooth extraction?

I have a baby tooth which is infected and it needs to be extracted. I want to get implants after that. but the thing is the implants are not covered by my insurance as they will replace a baby tooth. So i will have to get the implants in India. I am going to India in Jan-Feb time frame. So can i get the tooth extracted in India itself and get the implants there right away. I will be in India for 2 months. So do you think i should get the tooth extracted here as it will need more than 2 month to heal and go get the implants later in India? FYI I am 28 and i wont be growing/dont have a permanent tooth to replace the baby tooth

How long do you have to wait before you can get implants after a tooth extraction?
You won't need an implant...When the baby tooth is removed a new one will grow alllll by itself!....lol
Reply:You sound like an intelligent person and you have provided as much information as you probably have knowledge of, so I know that you will accept this as a speculative answer. Since you are talking about having a baby tooth removed, there might be little or no defect left in the bone at all. Even though there is no permanent tooth, the roots may have started to resorb anyhow. In this case, I think almost anyone would be comfortable placing an implant very soon or even at the same visit as the extraction. If there is a lot of root structure or if the tooth has fused to the bone and has to be cut out, some dentists would prefer to wait and it is not possible to say how long that waiting period would be. Many times, patients get an all acrylic partial denture with one tooth on it (a "flipper") to wear while they are healing. It might be possible to have your tooth removed and get a flipper to wear for cosmetic purposes while you heal.

I won't even ask why you are having this done in India, as "some of my best friends are Indian dentists" and some of them are highly expert. All I'll say is that I do hope you have a good reason for having your treatment in India and I hope that you already know WHO will be doing it. I hope you are hot going over there simply because you heard that it is cheaper and you are hoping to locate a dentist once you get there. In any event, good luck.

How much will two fake or two implant teeth cost?

I just got my braces off im 17, and i have two spaces 1 on each side of my mouth where the first molar would be, i was wondering How Much $$ it would cost and what my options would be so i dont have thes gaps

How much will two fake or two implant teeth cost?
This question was adequately answered by Romeosgirlfriend. I am curious about Biological Dental Consultant's answer, though. After all that negative jargon, you failed to list any alternatives. Not having a tooth or implant causes many other complications, like movement and super eruption of opposing teeth. What can you recommend instead of implants, then?
Reply:I can't believe you got your braces off and they left two big spaces big enough for teeth. You need to fill those spaces soon or all that ortho work will collapse on you. Implants can run you about $3500 to $4000 a tooth and take up to a year to be finalized. Implants need to be in the bone for at least 3 months before they can even load them with a tooth, which is the part you can see. Not many insurance companies cover any of that. Man, who did your ortho work?
Reply:well, after you get them, you can come to us to have them removed.

anything you put in your jaw is going to launch an immune reaction. the body sees it as a foreign invader and eventually encapsulates it. the same thing happens with breast implants and that is why they have to be replaced every 10 years or so. it is also the reason that implants are said to last approx 15 yrs. they say the bone grows around it. well, at first it does. then over time, you see it pulling away because of the antibodies it builds up to it (normal reaction to anything you put inside the body), and then it gets loose. if implants were a good thing and this did not happen, they would last 50 years or more. in the last decade or so, more and more people have gotten them, so in a few years, we are going to be seeing more and more people with lose implants who will have big holes in their jawbones that we will need to deal with. we pull out implants. they are a health hazard.

_______________

Implants: Currently, implants continue to be done without biocompatibility testing, and they are often started at extraction sites where cavitations are already developing. Autoimmune diseases seem to be often aggravated or even initiated by implants.

A titanium dental implant is usually made out of an alloy of this metal along with several other metals blended together. The most common alloy used has a ratio of 90 parts titanium, 6 parts aluminum and 4 parts vanadium

titanium implants are putting metal and a high milliamperage close to the brain. i have seen a woman who measured nearly 400 milliamps positive charge, and 30 neg charge who had three in her mouth; she paid $9,000 for them. the dr said she could have ran a stereo off her teeth. we removed them. our body runs on electrical impulses, so this can disrupt them (and brain waves). also, dentists and drs will tell you that bone grows to titanium implants. well, it will grow around it. but, it is a foreign object and the body will build up antibodies to it. over time, it will pull away from the bone and can become loose. if you will notice, they say implants last about 15 years or so. they are working on an implant made of diamond, supposed to be available in 5 yrs. but, it will still be a foreign object and pull away from the bone.

2.7.6. Titanium

It is generally accepted that pure titanium is extremely well tolerated by local tissues and induces neither toxic nor inflammatory reactions (Branemark et al. 1969, Toth et al. 1985, Linder et al. 1988, Pfeiffer et al. 1994). The normal tissue concentration of titanium in humans is 0.2 ppm. Around the titanium implants no clinical tissue toxicity has been observed even at local concentrations higher than 2000 ppm (Hildebrand et al. 1998). In optimal situations, titanium is able to osseointegrate with bone, thus forming a direct contact with bone at the light microscopy level (Branemark et al. 1969). The good bone contact may be due to the ability of titanium to form a Ca-P rich layer on its surface (Hanawa 1991). Titanium is bacteriostatic (Elagli et al. 1992) and does not significantly activate or inhibit different enzyme systems specific to toxic reactions, e.g. β - glucuronidase, lactate dehydrogenase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and acid phosphatase (Elagli et al. 1995). The good biocompatibility and corrosion resistance are due to the naturally forming stable titanium oxide (TiO2) film on titanium surfaces (Zitter et al. 1987, Kasemo et al. 1991).

Particles from titanium arise from the passivation layer of the implant, but they are not titanium ions, but mostly insoluble titanium oxides or suboxides, which are recognized to be biologically inert. Indeed, the passivation layer is immediately reformed after abrasion because of the high oxidizability of titanium. This behavior protects the alloy and prevents the formation of chemical compounds other than oxides (Hildebrand et al. 1998). Tissue discoloration due to titanium oxide particles is sometimes seen around pure titanium implants, but this seems to have no clinical consequences (Onodera et al. 1993, Rosenberg et al. 1993). Experiments with laboratory animals and some limited analyses of human tissues have also revealed evidence of titanium release into distant tissues (Schliephake et al. 1993, Jorgenson et al. 1997).

Wear particles produced by abrasion appear especially in the vicinity of articular prostheses and implants with certain mobility, e.g. uncemented total hip replacements. These particles may induce multiple tissue reactions, including osteolysis, degradation of normal bone structure, severe macrophagic reactions, granuloma, fibrotic capsules and chronic inflammation, which may cause destabilization and loosening of prostheses and implants (Santavirta et al. 1991, Santavirta et al. 1993, Rubash et al. 1998). Particle size and composition are of essential importance in that process. Deleterious reactions have been reported with Ti-6Al-4V based prostheses (Nasser et al. 1990, Rubash et al. 1998), but not with pure titanium implants.

In vitro, pure titanium particles have also been shown to have some effects on cells. Low concentrations may stimulate fibroblast proliferation, while high concentrations may be toxic. At high particle concentrations, titanium caused a decrease in proteolytic and collagenolytic activity in the culture medium. Titanium also elevated the lysosomal enzyme marker, hexosaminidase, except at high concentrations (Maloney et al. 1993).

Metal ion levels after metal-on-metal proximal femoral replacements: a 30-year follow-up.

[My paper] E Dunstan , A P Sanghrajka , S Tilley , P Unwin , G Blunn , S R Cannon , T W R Briggs

Metal-on-metal hip bearings are being implanted into younger patients. The consequence of elevated levels of potentially carcinogenic metal ions is therefore a cause for concern. We have determined the levels of cobalt (Co), chromium (Cr), titanium (Ti) and vanadium (Va) in the urine and whole blood of patients who had had metal-on-metal and metal-on-polyethylene articulations in situ for more than 30 years. We compared these with each other and with the levels for a control group of subjects. We found significantly elevated levels of whole blood Ti, Va and urinary Cr in all arthroplasty groups. The whole blood and urine levels of Co were grossly elevated, by a factor of 50 and 300 times respectively in patients with loose metal-on-metal articulations when compared with the control group. Stable metal-on-metal articulations showed much lower levels. Elevated levels of whole blood or urinary Co may be useful in identifying metal-on-metal articulations which are loose.

Zirconium dioxide implants are supposed to be the wave of the future. They are still putting a foreign body into the jaw and the immune system will launch an immune response, so they will still loosen over time (15 to 20 years) from that. Granted, it appears to be better than titanium and they are saying it is a substitute for metal implants, but with the immune response, it isn't worth it to me.

The German chemist M. H. Klaproth discovered zirconium dioxide in 1789 although this "miracle material" with its outstanding properties has only been re-discovered in the last few decades. For instance, various types of zirconium dioxide have been introduced to dentistry as a substitute for metal. This material is attractive because of its extraordinary properties such as high flexural strength (in excess of 1,000 MPa), hardness (1,200 – 1,400 Vickers) and Weibull modulus (10-12). Yttrium partially stabilises zirconium oxide to provide these positive properties. Adding aluminium oxide boosts the flexural strength of the zirconium dioxide alloy once again. Zirconium dioxide is used for manufacturing kitchen knives, industrial cutting tools and components under great thermomechanic stress in the automobile and aircraft industry. However, it is not only very strong, it is also biocompatible so that zirconium dioxide is also used in medicine (hearing devices and artificial fingers and hips) and dentistry (pins, crowns, bridges and implants). The fact that zirconium dioxide has the same colour as teeth along with its biotechnical characteristics mean it is used for manufacturing biocompatible, high-quality and aesthetic tooth and implant reconstructions. There have only been animal experiments and laboratory examinations on applying dental zirconium oxide implants to date, meaning no long-term data exists on the clinical application of these implants.

Manufacturing Zirconium Dioxide

The mineral zirconium (ZrSiO4) is the main raw material for zirconium dioxide while melting it with coke and lime (reducing the SiO2) produces ZrO2 for industrial uses. Since extremely pure constituents have to be used for producing high-performance ceramics, special ways to synthesise it have been developed for high-purity ZrO2. This includes production with reactions in molten salts, reactions in the gaseous phase, hydrothermal powder synthesis and the sol-gel process. Gaseous phase and sol-gel process production provides powder at very small particle sizes ranging from 0.01 to 0.10 µm. This powder is then mixed with additives to create what are known as green bodies with film casting, slip casting or drying pressing. We distinguish additives such as sintering additives (that have a specific effect on the sintering behaviour and the properties of finished ceramics) and auxiliary materials that facilitate shaping. While the sintering additives stay in the ceramics, all residues of the auxiliary materials (mostly slightly volatile organic compounds along with water) are removed from the moulded component before the sintering process. The green body is passed into the raw product by sintering and ground or polished depending upon use. The sintering process can be carried out at atmospheric pressure and under high pressure and it is only with the sintering process that the moulded components receive their actual properties. The ceramic powder particles are compressed by lowering the specific surface with temperature-dependant diffusion processes with alternating components of surface, particle size grading and volume diffusion. If solid body diffusion is too slow, sintering can also be carried out with a liquid phase or under pressure, the latter being called hot pressing or hot isostatic pressing (the HIP process). The velocity of solid body diffusion can be boosted with the right selection of sintering additives. A great deal of research needs to be done here since the high sintering temperatures (in excess of 1,200° C) and manufacturing under pressure causes production costs for ceramic components to shoot up. Along with providing systematic clarification of the impact that additives have on the sintering process, there are also attempts to enhance power transmission onto ceramic components by coupling in microwaves for lowering sintering temperatures.

ZrO2 Ceramics

The properties of ZrO2 ceramics substantially pivot on the chemical composition of the material and the manufacturing process. We distinguish fully stabilised ZrO2 (FSZ „fully stabilized zirconia“) and partially stabilised ZrO2 (PSZ „partially stabilized zirconia“). It can be partially stabilised by adding 3-6% CaO, MgO or Y2O3 and depending upon the conditions of manufacturing this stabilises the cubic, tetragonal or monocline modification. Partially stabilised ZrO2 demonstrates high thermal fatigue resistance, meaning it fills the bill for use as high-temperature mechanoceramics. Adding 10-15% CaO, MgO or Y2O3 also allows cubic modification of the zirconium dioxide from absolute zero to the solidus (FSZ) and the ceramic material is thermally and mechanically stable to a temperature of 2,600°. However, its low caloric conductivity and higher thermal expansion factor as compared with partially stabilised ZrO2 mean that the thermal fatigue resistance of the fully stabilised zirconium dioxide is lower. The zirconium dioxide that is suited to use as an implant has the following composition: 95% ZrO2 + 5% Y2O3.

One of my implanted teeth is hurting when i touch it with my toung is this reason to be concerned (i got it 6)

Probably a gum infection (common with implants), have it checked.

One of my implanted teeth is hurting when i touch it with my toung is this reason to be concerned (i got it 6)
Yes. You may have an infection below the implant. Do not waste time with this, you could loose the implant, and you could end up with an additional infection in your mouth. Call your dentist first thing in the morning and TELL HIM your on your way over.
Reply:You should go see your dentist and have him take a look at it. The crown or the implant could be loose and that can cause your gum to be sensitive to the touch. The gum may also be infected so it would be best to get it checked out. Good Luck and I hope that your tooth feels better soon.

If anyone has implant teeth, please let me know is satisfied or not?

I work for an oral surgeon who puts in dental implants on a regular basis. Our success rate is over 98%, as is our satisfaction rate. In the long run, a successful implant is much more cost effective and efficient than a bridge or a partial.

If anyone has implant teeth, please let me know is satisfied or not?
No second thoughts about what Pdigoe has said above. Secondly, look around in your work or neighborhood area and ask people if they know somebody with dental implants. To your pleasant surprise (I hope not a shock) you will find one in minutes showing you implant supported tooth/teeth/dentures. You will have everything from horse's mouth. Don't be a Doubting Thomas.
Reply:I have 8 implants on top and 6 on the bottom that holds a whole bridge unit similar to a denture only in the sense the teeth are all in one piece. Outside of that there is no similarities to dentures. My teeth are screwed onto the implants and secure as natural teeth. My smile is beautiful and you would never know to talk to me that these were not the teeth I was born with . Am I satisfied. Perfect white beautiful natural looking teeth. What's not to be happy about that! You clean them like you do regular teeth with a toothbrush and floss.

What is better, false teeth or implanted teeth?

Implants are by far the best choice to replace missing teeth. Often times dentures are ill-fitting and patients almost always have problems with the lower denture. Implants are more expensive and insurance doesn't cover them, but if you are able to then I would say to go that route.

What is better, false teeth or implanted teeth?
Dentures are less expensive, but i have implanted teeth, and although it was a pain to get, i don't have any of the problems people i know with dentures have. in fact, Ive had less problems then when i had teeth.
Reply:Implants are better. If u can avoid false do so at all cost. More so with a lower denture.
Reply:False
Reply:none their both fake, your own teeth are the best teeth so try and save as many as u can :)
Reply:cost? false

esthectics? impanted.

false are speedier to be completed. requires years of follow up and relines.

implants can be gradual and slower process requires sugery, follow appointments, good coordination and willingnes to do proper oral hygiene.
Reply:Dentures are 70% less effective than your natural teeth. If you get dentures, you will most likely have problems with sore spots and difficulty chewing many foods, however this is the quickest, most common, easiest and least expensive route. Implants are wonderful but if you are looking at dentures, you must understand it is not likely you will get full mouth implants. Most oral surgeons or prosthodontists will place 4 implants and an attatched bar denture or extensive bridge work. You are looking at 10,000-15,000 per arch to do this the ideal way and it will take months and several appointments/surgeries. Not everyone is a candidate for implants, keep in mind you must have ample height and width of bone with enough density to hold the implant so if you are losing teeth due to gum disease, implants may not be the answer for you. I would recommend the implants over the denture any day if it is possible and feasible for you.

Fixed Bridge treatment is best for tooth missing or implants? Pls anybody who have dental bridges and implant can suggest, pls

Dentistry side Which is good for missing teeth? fixed bridge or Implant?
Depending on how many teeth you have missing a bridge is a good option....BUT, if the teeth that are to hold the bridge in place are compromised (ie. damaged or loose) a bridge is not too feasable, unless a dentist advises you that he can repair them well enough that you can expect a good 10 years of worth out of it. Implants on the otherhand have a very good longevity, provided you do not smoke and also care for your teeth %26amp; gums as prescribed by the dentist.....meaning brushing 2-3 times a day and flossing each day...good luck
Reply:i guess implant.
Reply:in tooth restoration for a missing tooth or teeth they have three options for that, we call it good, better and best...

good option is putting a denture to it

better option would be bridge

and the best option is an implant, though its costly its still the best option for a missing tooth or teeth.

i would suggests for you to consult your dentist reagarding your matter so that they could better assist you with your concerned matter. maybe they could do it there in their office or they could refer you to a periodontist that does dental implants or a prosthodontist that specializes in dental prosthesis/restoration
Reply:fixed bridge ( cheap %26amp; best) provided done by experts
Reply:Implants are very expensive, but probably the most permanent, bridges can come off eventually , if you for see a lot of problems with keeping your teeth, there are the denture options as well but I would suggest doing everything in your power to keep your teeth so an implant would be permanent.

Is it unusal to wait over a year for your permanent teeth after dental implant surgyer?

A friend had dental surgery done and had his remaining teeth pulled. He had to have a bone graft. This was last February. In July, one implant was found not to have taken. Another implant was done. The uncovered the last one in December. He is still waiting to get his permanent teeth for his implant screws. He has 4 implant screws on the bottom. A whole year seems long.

Is it unusal to wait over a year for your permanent teeth after dental implant surgyer?
It seems in his case no. It all depends on how well his bone heals. The fact that one implant didnt take shows that he has healing problems. Best to take it easy.
Reply:A year is longer than usual.

What treatment for Abnormal teeth [Narrow V shaped, missing etc]?

I'm 16 From the Xrays, i have one more baby molar left. i'm in the dental centre queue for braces [being subsidized].my case is complicated and ex.

of the four adult front teeth, three are abnormal. meaning they look pretty much like vipers. V U V V is what you'll see, only not that sharp. i'm conscious of that. also i have four or five missing tooth, mainly molars. the baby molar is grossly misaligned and has some kind disease in my opinion. it always bleeds. brushing is tough. i tried asking dentists and endo to extract it but they said it's all right to leave it there. now, the molar on the other side at the same upper part of my mouth is starting to be misaligned.

I'm to have two more wisdom teeth to erupt but only half has came out. how long will it take to fully erupt? it's slanted.

there'll be a mal and endo working on my teeth. braces, implants, bridges, veneers, caps are what i've heard from dentists and them.

what is the best treatment? really conscious and seldom smile.

What treatment for Abnormal teeth [Narrow V shaped, missing etc]?
It sounds like you have some congenitive problems that just aren't your fault. It also sounds like you have an excellent team of Dentist, Orthodontists and Oral Surgeons working on your case, more than you realize. You are probably what most dentist refer to as "the case of a lifetime". Meaning: This is the one they went to school and studied so hard for, and the one to be the most proud of when they are finished with treatment. You can be assured, they have "dentist friends" of theirs that have seen your photos and treatment plan. They have a lot of people giving their expertise to them on your behalf. If you don't believe me, just ask one of them.

So back to your question of treatment. You are in good hands right now, follow their treatment. Do exactly what they suggest and take care of the teeth you have right now. They are going to use every one of those teeth to give you a fantastic smile, so keep them brushed and flossed till they move them around or put crowns, bridges or veneers on them. It's hard to use them if they are in bad shape due to decay. Some dentist will question the care of the finished product after their hard work, if your not taking care of them now. So your part is in keeping them clean and flossed. Put your trust in those who are helping you right now. Good luck!

What should I do if nearly all of my teeth are bad/have cavities?

For years my teeth have been deteriorating at a rapid pace, and I just don't know what to do to stop it anymore. I brush, floss, and the cavities just get bigger. I've got at least one on every tooth, and it's almost to the point where the molars are going to be structurally weakened soon because they're so big.

When I was a child I was never really encouraged to brush my teeth all that much, so I never really started on a regular basis until a couple of years ago. Now it seems like its too late. My old dentist has asked me more than once if I'm doing any kind of meth. (I'm not)

So, I've heard about implants and transplants and bridges, but I really think I might just have weak teeth. Are implants the only way to go? (Besides dentures, that just sounds terrible at 19. =( ) What are some other options, how much do they cost?

What should I do if nearly all of my teeth are bad/have cavities?
You really need to consult a dentist about this, but I agree you need to find out what is causing this. I have brushed my teeth two times a day, once in the morning and once at night. I now have a water pic that helps get the stuff out of your teeth. I also have an electric toothbrush that I use on my gums, plus flossing. I go to bed and do the flossing, so I can take longer, because I am usually tired.

Sounds like you have gone far too long without good habits. You could start now, and also you might want to start on vitamins and calcium plus D %26amp; maybe magnesium too.

You will have to get the fillings taken care of, and it won't be inexpensive. I would put getting dentures on the bottom of the list, but you may have some kind of condition that is not going to get better, so you may have to do that.

You might want to go to your regular doctor and let them run some blood tests and see if you are off chemically, or have any vitamin defincies. If you drink soft drinks, stop or any kind of sugar type of drink, coffee is bad too for the looks of your teeth. After you get all the cavities filled, start on a very aggressive habit of taking care of you teeth before you get gum disease and then they have to start cutting.

Change your foods, if you have not been eating vegetables and nutritional foods, like fruits and high protein, like chicken, etc., then start. Let go of the junk food, and also any other things that you do that might be harming your teeth.

Bad teeth can affect your whole body and heart, so if it comes down to it, and you have to remove them, no one will know, if you have to get dentures. You are young, but do what you have to do. Good luck.
Reply:knock all your teeeth out and go get some grilllz
Reply:It's quite easy, just stop smokimg meth....

No for real, that is aomething that isn't funny. Basically about all you can do is have them all pulled and get dentures. Cavities are actully where the tooth has rotted, and tyhe only way to fix it is to drill out the decayed part and have it filled. Since they are just about on every tooth that would be somewhat impractical. If you don;t have them drilled out they will continue to "grow". Sorry to say but it would be best just to get the dentures. Nothing else will stop the cavities from growing, unless you get them all filled.
Reply:Find a new dentist. One that specializes in adult teeth. They should be able to show you the latest techniques. Cost will depend on what you decide to do.
Reply:You could always get porcelain veneers. I'm sure they cost a pretty penny, but they just cover up the teeth you have now and will not rot or change color I'm told... also regular visits to the dentist probably wouldn't hurt either. Your old dentist should have recommended some options instead of insulting your meth habit... that's none of his business. ;-)
Reply:start the damage control now.

for those still within control, ask the dentist to do fillings. should start with the more serious ones then move to do the less serious ones.

repeat the process for a couple of weeks, till the fillings are done on all necessary teeth.

for those that are damaged at the roots, you'll need to do root canal treatment.

for those that beyond repair, you'll lose your tooth and do implants (they are expensive), so ask the dentist what options you can have.

trust me, do it now.
Reply:Teeth dont' just decay for no reason. You need to find out what the cause of this is if you want to rectify the situation. These are the things that you should be looking at:

1. Are you brushing and flossing effectively?

Just because you are brushing and flossing doesn't mean you are doing it effectively

2. What is your diet like?

You need to have a close look at how much sugar is in your diet. Check for "hidden" sugar - read the labels of the things you are eating and drinking. The only drinks you should consume on a regular basis are water and milk.

3. Do you have a dry mouth?

Does your mouth feel really! dry in the morning. Do you drink alot of coffee or tea? Do you smoke? Are you on any medication that causes your saliva rate to be reduced?

You should really try to save your teeth as no matter what option you decide on (dentures or implants) they will never be the same as your own natural teeth.

Options for teeth makoever?

So basically my teeth totaly suck.

Really, money isn't that big of a deal for me, it doesn't matter how much it will cost, but I'd still like to know about the cost.

So my two front teeth are large and protrude forward, and the rest of my teeth aren't horrible but I'd get vaneers or whatever for some of them.

1. Can I replace teeth with implants? Would this work better than just getting vaneers or caps, etc.

2. What would work best to just change all the teeth, everything from whitening to size and position.

Also, my lower jaw is farther below my upper jaw. Could this be fixed with surgery or would I have to get blocks like I would had I just gone with braces?

Thank you so much for your help!! I really appreciate it!!

Options for teeth makoever?
Definitely visit your dentist and get his full recommendations, but here's what I think after working for a dentist for over a year so far. Do not go with implants unless you are missing teeth. If you are missing teeth they are a great choice, but if the teeth you have are in good shape, you are only dissatisfied with the aesthetics of them, then probably crowns can be done to make them look better. If your teeth really are crooked enough to warrant orthodontics then by all means do that, if it will make you like your teeth. I don't know much about ortho, but it might be able to fix your jaw problem also. If not then I'm sure there is a surgery that can. If you'd like your teeth whiter, then custom made bleaching trays from your dentist and the corresponding bleach works very well. If you get much reconstruction on your teeth you might not need it, for example if you get several crowns that are visible when you smile then they can made to a lighter shade that you and dentist decide on. Be sure when you go to the dentist that you tell him all your concerns, and he'll get something figured out for you. It's good that you can afford it too, so many people can't and hate their teeth. Good luck!
Reply:first of all visit your general dentist or a dentist specialized in prosthetic dentistry (prosthodontist) to get his opinion

1. you certainly should not replace your teeth with implants. implants are a solution when a teeth is missing. there are many conservative solutions using current dental materials.

for your jaw problem, you should visit an orthodontist. there are solutions, including surgery.
Reply:I would go to a Cosmetic Dentist before I went to a general dentist. I just had 8 Veneers put on and I am in love!! I chose the Cosmetic Dentist. If your going to pay the money, get it done by someone who does it all the time and is a specialist, not just a general dentist that doesn't have the level of experience.

My Crown fell off along with a piece with my teeth inside?

The dentist tried to reglue it back with a permenant seal but it fell off again, she said there's nothing she could do but to reglue it every time it fells out, because I have a perfectly health roots, she don't want to try tooth implant since it's not roting or swaying. Can I just glue it my self with a permanant or super glue instead??

My Crown fell off along with a piece with my teeth inside?
If part of your "natural tooth" fell off inside the crown, this may have compromised the margins of the prep. Continuing to re-cement a crown is not “correcting the problem” rather it’s adding to it. There is a reason this crown keeps coming off, it doesn’t fit anymore. Either the part of the tooth that came off, or recurrent decay, has compromised the margins of the crown so that when it’s re-cemented it will “leak inside the crown” causing a cement failure again. It’s the “leaking” that is the serious problem. This slow steady leaking of bacteria is coating the inside of the “crown and your tooth” not only causing the cement to fail but it’s coating the “uncovered” portion of your natural tooth allowing easier and highly possible decay to take place and also allowing bacteria to saturate the dentin tubules of this uncovered tooth possibly reaching the pulp or nerve that could necessitate the need for a root canal in the very near future.

I would suggest that you have another dentist examine this tooth and give their assessment. Without looking at the tooth or an x ray, I would say you possibly need decay removed, a pin build up and a new crown. A post (as someone suggested) is never placed in a tooth unless it’s had root canal therapy.

Find another dentist, one who will solve the problem, not make it worse or add to it. I hope that I’ve been of some help and that you will seek out another dentist with more experience in crown and bridge work very soon. Good luck!

Additional information: Do not use super glue, you will most definitely cause a root canal therapy to be needed and likely to cause the need for the tooth to be extracted.
Reply:no u might glue ur cheek or something by accident...go back to the dentist ask her put something stronger on it...
Reply:you need a post and crown, if your dentist hasn't offered this find a new dentist This problem isn't unusual obviously you had recurrent decay...it happens a crown is only guaranteed for 5 years A crown with a pin will look no different, does not damage the integrity of the tooth it will cost a little more then just a crown but will be worth it. Absolutely do not attempt to glue this yourself.
Reply:Unfortunately, super glue won't work. For one thing, superglue works only on clean, dry surfaces, and it's all wet inside your mouth-- It won't set properly in that kind of environment.

Since the crown fell off with a piece of your tooth inside, the tooth has fractured and thus the crown no longer has sufficient tooth structure to "grab" onto. No matter how strong a glue you use, it's never going to stay on anymore.

Either the post + core + crown all need to be redone if there is enough tooth left, or the tooth needs to be pulled. You might want to get a few second opinions to help you decide which way to go.

Good luck.
Reply:no super glue will kill the nerves in you tooth seen a guy in my office that did that, was bad...have you asked her about a new crown that fits better..is she using permentant cement?

I had two teeth pulled? Dentist recommends an implant or my teeth will shift. How long can I wait?

I had the back lower two molars pulled (teeth #18) My dentist recommended implants or my teeth may shift and eventually fall out.

I can't afford them now ($5500) , but could save up for them in about a year and a half.

How long can you go without a tooth being present and still implant one?

I had two teeth pulled? Dentist recommends an implant or my teeth will shift. How long can I wait?
Son I am no dentist but I had mine pulled 52 years ago with no ill effects. And my teeth are OK.
Reply:You can see if insurance will pay for it. Maybe you can do the most severe one now and then the other later so at least one gets in.
Reply:Don't worry, it takes a long while for the teeth to shift, so you've got plenty of time to save up!
Reply:why are you asking us ask your dentist
Reply:Please talk to your dentist. Be honest with him about not affording it. He should be able to tell you .....he knows your mouth better than anyone here does.

Ask him if it will do permanent damage to wait, or to not get them at all. If you don't trust him, find another dentist to ask.
Reply:you might be able to get a bridge for half that amount ask your dentist. You may prefer the implant but this will keep them apart until you can get it.
Reply:Suggest that you get a second opinion.

If your local state university has a dental school, I would definitely go there to get an honest assessment.

Good luck.
Reply:Get a partial until you can afford the implant. Please NO bridge. They have to shave down the teeth on each side to place the implant compromising perfectly good teeth. Implants are worth it. Save your money if you can because it is an investment in your future.
Reply:My dentist said no longer than six months. I have to get two pulled also. You could get a partial until you save your money, thats probably what I will have to do.
Reply:BJMARCHIN...,

NOT ALOT WILL HAPPEN IF WAIT UNTIL YOU CAN AFFORD THE IMPLANTS. INSURANCE DOES NOT PAY FOR IMPLANTS AND THIS IS UNFORTUNATE. THERE ARE CERTAIN CASES WHERE ONLY AN IMPLANT WILL SERVE AS A SUBSTITUTE.
Reply:I had a top molar pulled about 4 years ago and just recently discussed an implant with my dentist - I don't remember them ever telling me I needed to get it done right away. My teeth did shift slightly because the space is smaller than it was, however nothing shifted enough to mess up my bite or cause any other harm. I also had 4 teeth pulled (one from each side, top and bottom) because my mouth was too crowded...the spaces closed up and I never had a problem. I honestly do not think you will have a problem if you wait that long, that's very expensive. My dentist said I didn't even have to put anything in place of where I lost that tooth if I didn't want to, so I'm only having it done for esthetic purposes.
Reply:When you will get all teeth out that day you can not make denture.

you have to take those implant one out too. So you loose money $55oo plus you have to give money to pull out.

I just got my wisdom teeth pulled and my docture gave me hydrocodone-ibuprof. 7.5/200mg is that a lot?

and it should be taken every 4-6 hours does this sound correct? i got all 4 pulled and an tooth implant

I just got my wisdom teeth pulled and my docture gave me hydrocodone-ibuprof. 7.5/200mg is that a lot?
I'm a dentist.

No. That is not a lot. It is a very safe dose.

I am a bit surprised, however, that your doctor prescribed that drug. Generally, we prescribe narcotic/acetaminophen combinations...in order to avoid any of the possible side-effects associated with ibuprofen (e.g. stomach upset, increased bleeding, etc.).
Reply:Depends on your size....doesn't soud like to much for what pain you may feel. I don't know that I would take it every 4 hours try to wait because it can make you quite sick to your stomach. Make sure you eat with it...I know it's kind of hard given the circumstances but taking them on an empty tummy isn't good.
Reply:No its not alot. the average person takes 500mg.

Are there patented systems for root canal implant of false teeth?

Looking for any packaged pateneted system for root canal implanting of teeth into live human bone

Are there patented systems for root canal implant of false teeth?
Root Canal treatment is done for the existing natural tooth ,if the tooth is badly decayed and the pulp is exposed and the pulse is formed and the infection has reached the apex [the tip of the root] by which the tooth is traeted by anti biotics and then in the second visit the dental nerve is removed by sedating the tooth after that the patient wont feel any pain and then the canal is created into the root and and the pulse is drained by irrigation and and medicated dressing is given this procedure may repeat in the other two visits depending on the condition of the tooth and then the canal is filled with gutta percha and sealed .

Implants is done if you have any missing tooth or more ,the bone in which the teeth are fixed by natural process is called Alvular bone ,in which the metal post are fixed by drilling for support to hold the artificial tooth this known as implants.

Dental Implants !!!! plzzz i need an answerrr?

Are they painful?? how long is the procedure ??? i need a single tooth implant . . .

Dental Implants !!!! plzzz i need an answerrr?
I recently had two implants, molars. And they were not fun, but to replace missing teeth they are very sturdy and look perfect. I have no pain there now, or at all after the procedure. During the procedures, which takes about 3 visits, usually, it was uncomfortable and painful for two of them, but novocaine was enough to handle it. That and some vicodin after. (Not too much). Be sure to get a very experienced dentist to do it, as a bad one can aim badly when putting in the the titanium screws, especially uppers, and they can pierce the cheek up toward the eye. This is rare, and a good doctor will make sure the screw fits your jaw. Make him show you, look at the x-rays, and get fully informed. You have a right to know, and a responsibility to do as much as you can for your own health. If the crown (top) part of the new tooth is not seated right at or just under the gumline you can still get food underneath the edges of them, but it's not a big deal to get those teeny toothbrushes-on-a-stick and poke/brush it out. And floss. But after it's all over, whew, they look and feel great. Not sure I'd do it again, but for only one tooth, one time, with a good dentist, it should all go well. Make sure you have no other gum or health issues and go for it. Good luck!
Reply:Not painful but time consuming. Procedure is about an hour or less. It will take about 6 - 8 months to complete the process of

implantation to final crown placement.
Reply:I am also getting a single tooth implant.

My maxiofacial surgeon said in all, it will take about a year to be finished.

I will get the actual screw thing put in and wait 6 months for it to heal and then I will go back and get the actual implant put on by my regular dentist.

Molar Removed/Surgicl Implant/Loose Teeth?

Help! Two years ago, I had a failed root canal and had to have a lower molar pulled. They warned me that my other teeth could loosen, sadly, they have. I don't know what to do. Is it too late to have an implant, and save these loose teeth? Is there anything I can do? I am so depressed over this and feel lost. I am trying not to eat on that side, but at this point, I don't know if they can save my teeth.

Molar Removed/Surgicl Implant/Loose Teeth?
You need a thorough dental evaluation. If you live close to a major dental school, you should go there. Otherwise, It may be best that you consult with a oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your situation. I would recommend the University of Michigan Dental School. But, I'm not sure if it would be feesible for you to get treatment at the U of M. If you live closeby Michigan. U of M maybe able to help you
Reply:An implant cannot save lose teeth. Implants are actual replacemnt teeth. Mobile teeth can be howeve saved depending on the grade ( nature ) of mobility by gum surgeries and bone grafts. But then again depends on the condition of your bone and mouth. You could try and get a removable denture done immdtly and replace the lost molar. Maintain good oral hygn ..wait and wtch. The mobility wil dfntly reduce largely else removal and replacemnt of the highly mobile teeth to save the less mobile would b a good treatmnt..Take care

Switching from removable dentures to stay in teeth?

I have full top and bottom dentures that I just got 3 weeks ago. My dentist says that I have bone for the implants and we plan to start that in 4 months. What I want to understand though is how to I get the implants (teeth) that stay in all the time versus still having to remove nightly? How many implants would it take on the top and bottom to have a full mouth of teeth that stay in all the time?

Switching from removable dentures to stay in teeth?
HELLO STEPHANIE,

WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE TO ME IS THAT THE DENTIST PLANS ON MAKING YOU IMPLANT-RETAINED DENTURES.

IN THIS THE IMPLANTS ARE PUT INTO THE BONE AND SPECIAL INSERTS ARE MADE FOR HOLDING ON TO THE DENTURES.

THE DENTURES STILL NEED TO BE REMOVED NIGHTLY WHILE SLEEPING TO KEEP THE BACTERIA FROM GROWING ON THEM. OR, THE DENTIST MAY WANT TO DO IMPLANT BRIDGEWORK. HERE THE BRIDGES ARE NEVER REMOVED FROM YOUR MOUTH, BUT LIKE REAL TEETH HAVE TO BE MAINTAINED WITH BRUSHING AND SPECIAL FLOSSING. YOU CAN ALSO USE A WATERPIK IRRIGATOR INSTEAD OF FLOSSING BECAUSE OF THE EASE OF USE.

AS FAR AS HOW MANY IMPLANTS THERE WILL BE....?

THIS DEPENDS ON YOUR DENTIST.

YOU'LL LOVE THE IMPLANTS AS OPPOSED TO THE TRADITIONAL DENTURES. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:Usually 3 sometimes 4. Yes they will stay in all the time. People w/ dentures usually love them.
Reply:Everyone is born with 32 teeth in total and some people remove 4 teeth which is are the wisdom teeth. I think you could get away with only 20 to 24 Implants in total. They working on way to regrow your adult teeth in England U.K. and they estimate that they will complete the process by 2009. I think that it looks promising and some random adults have all there adult teeth removed because they naturally regrow all there teeth again.

Six years ago the news media stated "in five year time one would be able to have tooth implants from stem cell
Stem cell research is a vastly misunderstood branch of genetic science. Politicians, who listen to nobody in particular, have taken a moral high ground when it comes to all things genetic, since they don't understand the science either. The religious have blocked, where ever possible, legislation that would allow stem cell research. Primarily, because at first, the science was restricted to Embyonic Stem Cell research. But recent advancements, have made it possible to use adult donor cells, which will facillitate tooth implants as well as many other genetic advancements. Once we can repair ourselves through genetic manipulation and organ cloning, laws will change to reflect the progress.
Reply:the 'squashing of stem cell research' happened to this treatment.
Reply:still on the research and development process
Reply:Stem cells are re-genetic cells which can remake any cell in the body. Research is being done, but on allot higher and more important scale than tooth implants.

Good DAy. What are the good and bad side effects of tooth implants?

Good effects :

Implants are the best replacement for your "missing or non savable" teeth available in the market right now.

Bad effects :

1. Remember implants are best for replacing missing teeth or non savable teeth. If your tooth can be saved by doing R.C.T. you should go for R.C.T., rather than getting implant. Implants are artificial prosthesis. While R.C.T. treated tooth is your own natural tooth. Even the best artificial prosthesis cannot be better than natural body part.

2.About 50% of the implants placed by a General dentist are a failure. Which means they will have to be replaced within 5 - 7 years.

3. Implants are expensive. A single tooth implant could cost about 3000 to 5000 $. Price of a R.C.T. including crown that is placed after R.C.T. is about $ 1400 - 2400 (depending on the tooth). An implant dentures that replaces all teeth on the top and the bottom could run around 15,000 - 20,000.

4. Implants are time consuming. Takes about 3-6 months for the complete procedure which involves surgery and multiple dental visits. ( Which means time off from work and loss of wage etc. )

And finally there is something that not even your dentist will tell you. Most of the dentist will opt for R.C.T. over Impant in their loved ones . These are the same dentist who will tell you to go for Implant rather than R.C.T.

Good DAy. What are the good and bad side effects of tooth implants?
I think the only bad thing about them is the Rods they have to put in your mouth...its surgery...and the other thing is the Price...the good is the look and no dentures
Reply:you may grow an extra nut sack
Reply:good side is they are great look and they are there 4 good but very exipensive cause i want some to.
Reply:I work in a dental office and all of my patients who have had implants love them. They say that they would much rather go through the procedure of getting an implant than a root canal.

A downside of implants is that it is a long process and can last 3-6 months or even longer to allow for proper healing and bone integration. And implants are costly and not always covered by dental insurance.
Reply:I had 5 lower jaw implants done about 18 or more years ago and never regretted it. I disagree with some of Perry's comments:

They are expensive, my 5 implants totaled 10,000 but in all these years have not had to have a thing done to them so that is cost saving over that long a haul.

It is done surgically but I went home the same day. The dowside is it took a total of 9 months (felt like giving birth to a baby)- and that was due to the need for absolute preciseness to be in alighnment with your upper teeth or dentures and it is worth it. We traveled 4 hours round trip and put on about 2,000 miles total living 120 miles from the hospital.

I am sure, since that long ago, the procedure has been refined and possibly reduced in cost. You must floss around the bases of the posts to keep grom having gingivitis set in but that is the case with one's own teeth. The jaw bone integrates with the post implanterd into the jaw as it has tiny holes that bone grows through and it is virtually impossible to break the posts. Insurance so far does not p[ay, claiming it isd a cosmetic thing but had I not had it done, I would be on baby food or gumming it as our bone shrinks with age and lower dentures no longer fit.

One can onlhy be thankful for this high tech method. Many get by with only 1 or 2 implants but I chose to go for the limit of 5 so it need not be that costly. Go for it if you can. The procedure causes pain for a few days and Tylanol takes care of that. The lengthy time is due to many things. You will be shown about a 15 min. film of the procedure before you have to make up yhour mind. You have to be mentally able to go thru it so they do not,or did not, then, accept everyone

Perry's comment about 50% having to be redone or lasting only 5-7 years in no way reflects my many years success. Perry are you a dentist who does implants as very very few do even now..My surgeon and dr. in charge of alll the con-struction gave talks all over the world and I could not have had a better person do it. He was precise, very very careful, a perfectionist which probably accounted for it taking 9 months.

I'd go thru it again regardless but unless you do implants-you

might not have all the right answers let alone actual hands-on experience.

Does anyone know a good dental clinic for root canals and tooth implants in Nogales Mexico?

The cost of dental care in the US is so outrageous I can finance an entire vacation by having the work done overseas. I am in Tucson and can easily drive to Nogales if the service quality and price is good.

No LOL

You get what you pay for.

Get on the 405 freeway southbound, it ends at the international border.
Reply:You should really think about getting your dental work done there. The quality is not the same and many people that go there for dental work end up being redone over here. The price may be affordable but the quality is not the same, something to think about.
Reply:I would not go there for dental work. Most probably if the price is low the dentist is not competitive and you would end up paying more for having to have it redone in the states. Most probably you can get it done out of Ca for less money.

Can dental implants be bridged between them,or are individual implants needed for each tooth postion ?

i had a accident, resulting in the loss of my upper teeth;excluding the two center teeth.can i have one implant inserted next to each of my 2 good middle teeth, than another implant further back 4-5 positions, and have a bridgework made to fill the gap? or must i have individual implants for each tooth position... that is toothless ? i am 53 with healthy bone, etc. thank you !

Can dental implants be bridged between them,or are individual implants needed for each tooth postion ?
I am the implant coordinator for a dentist. This is what our opinion on this is. As Dr Sam, it is better to replace teeth individually with implants, that way if one does fail you are not forced to remove the whole bridge. But you can do a bridge on implants. You usually don't want more than 1 pontic (Fake tooth inbetween) on the back teeth, but can do a couple on front implants.

We did a large case on a woman where we place 8 implants on top, one did in fact fail, however we place a bridge along the entire arch attached to the remaining 7 implants. We had to make it where it basically had a puzzle type connection in two places so that it would fit properly, but this shows that bridges can be done on implants.

From your post it appears that you only have teeth #8 and 9, is that right? You would probably need about 6 implants total.

That is just a guess though, since I don't have x-rays on you.
Reply:What Dental Implants Can Do?

* Replace one or more teeth without affecting bordering teeth.

* Support a bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial denture.

* Provide support for a denture, making it more secure and comfortable.
Reply:You can suspend a couple of teeth between implants in most situation. Many people - including me - are happier doing each replacement tooth-by-tooth, because of a fear that one of the "key" implants might fail. This gives us some leeway for a "Plan B." That's not to say that I "never" do a bridge between implants, but it is safer to go the other way. I would not cover a span of more than one missing tooth, though. In other words, three replacement teeth would be supported by two implants.

Angela surely has more experience in this, so I hope she chimes in on a reply.

How much you pay for teeth implanting?

Generally around $2000 per tooth in the U.S. It varies depending on what state you live in. Also, insurance will not pay for any of the procedure... the patient has to pay for them 100% out of pocket.

I had anerexia for 8 years and subsequently my teeth are in real bad shape due to the acid in my vomit?

how do i get them sorted?ideally they all need removing and i need tooth implants this would cost an absoulute fortune,it realy gets me down and im loosing my outgoing personality, help!!!

I had anerexia for 8 years and subsequently my teeth are in real bad shape due to the acid in my vomit?
i have the same problem, i went on the internet and got a plan that is called the national discount plan and it really helps with cutting costs, hope this helps you as much as it has helped me.
Reply:Ugh, I'm sorry about your situation. There are companies out there that actually finance dental work. I'm not a big fan of the concept most of the time---The interest rate isn't ideal---But if it's important to you, it's something to look into.

Best of luck!
Reply:dont really know... but insurance should cover it since its a disease, or... get a job with a company that offers dental insurance... and destroy it
Reply:Well to start with I hope that you are over the anorexia, and if you are good going!!And if not please don't worry about your teeth get some help for the issue that started this,, There are a lot of dentists out there that have payment plans ,,possibly your medical insurance would cover it due to the fact that it was cause by a medical condition check all possibility's,, maybe a family member could help you pay for it,,,, Good Luck
Reply:Most dental insurance will not cover anything they consider cosmetic. In my area I would go to the local dental college and have the students work on my teeth (we have a great one here in southern cal).
Reply:I don't know how old you are, but, if you had this diease for (8) years, I am assuming that the self induced vomiting is in the past. (i hope that i am correct). In any event there really isn't anything that can be done, except the implants. Prehaps, if you went to a dental school as a individual that the furture dentists could do their work on - that you could save some, dough-ray-me. Try not getting down toots, remember: for every problem there is a solution. Hope that helps!
Reply:First it depends on the state of you teeth. Implant is never and ideal situation and it's only good for a few teeth. Or when somebody suffers and accident for example. First you should go for a very intensive fluor (fluoride) treatment. But you have to go to a doctor for that anyway. He/she will give you this very strong fluor to use for a month or so. Then you can have a prognosis of what's the best to do. Probably a combination of several treatments but should never be only one (don't go only for implants or only for porcelain veneers etc). In your case you should be patient. That's when you will get the best results.
Reply:If your teeth decayed from acid in regurgitation, you were bulemic, not anorexic, that is not the point though. Did you see a Dentist yet?? Sometimes teeth can be fixed. Implants would cost more than root canals, crowns and fixed bridges. It is best to save your teeth if possible. SOme of the finance companies who will give you credit for dental tx. do a 12 month no interest/no fee plan. See a dentist, get a treatment plan, discuss payment options. Be honest about what you want and can afford, sometimes there is more hope than you think.

I need two tooth implants, what are the best insurances, that will cover for my cost or half of it?

Reply:There is no way to buy an individual plan that will cover 50% of your implants. What you are asking for is free money.

A dental insurance company must make a profit, and they can only do that if there are more premiums coming in than there are benefits paid out. If you purchase an individual plan for say $100 per month, they can't pay out $1200 per year and stay in business.

The only way to get good dental insurance is to work for a company that offers it as part of a benefit package. If the insurance company covers lots of employees, some won't use it and that's how they stay in business.
Reply:It is rare to find a dental insurance company to cover the cost of dental implants.

*Does Insurance Cover the Cost of Dental Implants?

In general, implants are not covered by dental insurance at this time. Coverage under your medical plan may be possible, depending on the insurance plan and/or cause of tooth loss. Detailed questions about your individual needs and how they relate to insurance should be discussed with your dentist and your insurance provider.

May we trust tooth implants?

Absolutly! They are the next best thing to your natural teeth following tooth loss. They incorporate what is called an osteo-integrated implant fixture, placed in your mouth, beneath your gums by either an oral surgeon or a prosthodontist. When they are placed correctly, they heal (integrate) into the bone structure beneath your gumline at the site of the lost tooth or teeth. Some of them require a few months for healing, but there is a new variety out now, called immediate load implants that can have the restored tooth mounted to it immediately ... actually during the surgery to place the implant.

J*Mo mentions her husband having one split off a piece of the root under the tooth. Be assured, that was not an implant. More than likely it was a crown with a post cemented into the root canal of the tooth after endodontic work was done and a crown prepared to replace that particular tooth. If it was a true implant fixture, nothing of the natural tooth would have remained to split off!

The biggest drawback with implant work is the cost. The implant fixture and placement runs around $1000.00 to $1500.00 around here (South New Jersey) and it can be much more in other areas, like New York City. That's just the cost of the fixture. Then there is a cost for the crown made to fit onto it. Crowns in my area run anywhere from $800.00 to $1200.00 per tooth. So you're talking about $1800.00 to $2700.00 per tooth. Very expensive.

If you can't afford that kind of money, go with fixed bridgework (people call them caps). That's an artificial tooth or crown cemented over a prepared tooth that has been cut down to allow the crown to fit over it. They are still expensive, but there isn't any implant work to pay for.

The best solution is to keep your natural teeth healthy. It's cheaper and they look the best, no matter how good the bridgework is!
