Is it best to get braces befor you get tooth implants?

i have 3 missing teet and i plan on getting implants but i want to know if i need braces first because i could use braces too.

Reply:one of my friends is missing teeth and has braces she has a fake tooth on the braces (u cant tell) and when the braces come off she will get implants
Reply:If you are missing teeth and are considering braces, Yes, I would usually recommend having the braces done first. The orthodontist can put the surrounding teeth in good position and properly align the adjacent roots as well. In some cases, teeth behind the space can be pulled forward and make it unnecessary for the implants to be placed. When I place my implants I prefer to have the surrounding teeth and roots in good alignment; you end up with a much better result in the end. Also, when you do braces after the implants, the implants will NOT move like the teeth will. Implants are fused to the bone and will not move into new positions when braces are placed on them! Reply:Dr. Jon is right, although it depends on where your missing teeth are. Sometimes implants can be used as anchors for braces. You need to discuss this with the orthodontist and decide.
Reply:a)You got great answers but sometimes it may be a help to do Invisalign in cases of Missing teeth,as it's very easy to make a missing tooth pontic in Invisalign aligner. Check with your orthodontist/dentist regarding Invisalign.





b)Implant has two parts most of the time. the first phase is surgical in which a small surgery is done and implant is placed in the jaw bone under the gum. That's generally allowed to heal for few months before the crown/cap/tooth is placed on the implant. Some patients chose to do orthodontics during that time when they have to wait anyways.


Every such case scenario is very different though, and requires combined treatment planning between orthodontist, implant surgeon, and the dentist restoring the crowns.
