Are they painful?? how long is the procedure ??? i need a single tooth implant . . .
Dental Implants !!!! plzzz i need an answerrr?
I recently had two implants, molars. And they were not fun, but to replace missing teeth they are very sturdy and look perfect. I have no pain there now, or at all after the procedure. During the procedures, which takes about 3 visits, usually, it was uncomfortable and painful for two of them, but novocaine was enough to handle it. That and some vicodin after. (Not too much). Be sure to get a very experienced dentist to do it, as a bad one can aim badly when putting in the the titanium screws, especially uppers, and they can pierce the cheek up toward the eye. This is rare, and a good doctor will make sure the screw fits your jaw. Make him show you, look at the x-rays, and get fully informed. You have a right to know, and a responsibility to do as much as you can for your own health. If the crown (top) part of the new tooth is not seated right at or just under the gumline you can still get food underneath the edges of them, but it's not a big deal to get those teeny toothbrushes-on-a-stick and poke/brush it out. And floss. But after it's all over, whew, they look and feel great. Not sure I'd do it again, but for only one tooth, one time, with a good dentist, it should all go well. Make sure you have no other gum or health issues and go for it. Good luck!
Reply:Not painful but time consuming. Procedure is about an hour or less. It will take about 6 - 8 months to complete the process of
implantation to final crown placement.
Reply:I am also getting a single tooth implant.
My maxiofacial surgeon said in all, it will take about a year to be finished.
I will get the actual screw thing put in and wait 6 months for it to heal and then I will go back and get the actual implant put on by my regular dentist.
