An interesting question I don't think I've ever ran into something like that in any dental discussions recently. Implants almost mimic a real tooth in terms of anything related to the TMJ. The one small factor that may have an effect is that implants lack a PDL, a structure which surrounds the root of normal teeth. This PDL (which stands for periodonatl ligament) acts as shockabsorber and on a very microscopic level gives the tooth a little flexibility. Like I said, an implant lacks this, but I couldn't imagine TMJ being a major contraindication for dental implants. If anyone's reviewed any literature on this topic saying otherwise, feel free to correct me.
